朱丽亚歌剧 is the Marcus Institute’s advanced opera training program. 每年, 朱丽亚歌剧 produces three fully-staged opera productions featuring primarily 艺术家文凭 in Opera Studies, 音乐硕士, and 研究生文凭 students in principal and cover roles; however, undergraduate students are eligible to be cast in principal and cover roles as appropriate. 朱丽亚歌剧 has also co-produced opera performances with the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program.

Exposure to as many musical and dramatic perspectives as possible is a hallmark of the 朱丽亚歌剧 experience. In order to prepare students for the professional world, the Marcus Institute engages a new artistic team for every opera, and seeks to bring world-renowned 导体 and directors into the students’ educational experience. Recent 朱丽亚歌剧 导体 include Alan Gilbert, 一般颤抖Scappucci, 斯蒂芬的主, 安妮·曼森, 简·格洛弗, 还有伊曼纽尔·维拉姆. Recent directors include Stephen Wadsworth, Peter Kazaras, James Darrah, and James Robinson.

朱丽亚歌剧, a program dedicated to the education and training of future generations of singers at Juilliard, is supported by the vision and generous lead funding of the International Foundation for Arts and Culture and its Chairman, Dr. 晴久翰达岛.

The Marcus Institute invites leading guest artists and faculty members to conduct private, 公共, and live-streamed master classes and residencies throughout the school year. Guest artists work with Marcus Institute students in a variety of formats, from one-time master classes to several-week residencies. A few recent examples of guest artists and faculty members include Fabio Luisi, 亚尼克内, 乔伊斯DiDonato, 蕾妮·弗莱明, 帕特丽夏Racette, 尼尔Shicoff, 托马斯·芬, 杰拉尔德·芬利, 马尔科姆·马提瑙, 艾莉阿梅尔, 埃里克·欧文斯, 和雷娜塔·斯科托.

Marcus Institute undergraduate students progress from shared recitals in their first, second and third years to programming and preparing a full-length Graduation Recital in their final year of residence at Juilliard. 音乐硕士 and 研究生文凭 students are also required to program and perform a full-length Graduation Recital in their final year.

In addition to the curricular performance opportunities mentioned above, the Marcus Institute offers the opportunity for casting in a wide range of recitals and concerts. Among these opportunities are the Liederabend Series, a series of six recitals performed in Paul Hall and jointly produced by the Marcus Institute and 协作的钢琴 Department. Students are also eligible to be cast in Juilliard Songfest, an annual concert of song repertoire given in Alice Tully Hall and curated, 指导, and performed with Marcus Institute Artistic Director Brian Zeger. 

Other recital and concert opportunities include the Wednesday at One series in Alice Tully Hall and an annual collaboration with the New York Festival of Song. 每年, two singers are also selected by a panel of guest adjudicators to program and perform in the annual 声乐艺术 Honors Recital.

Undergraduate singers have the opportunity to be cast in the fully-staged undergraduate opera production and opera scenes performances. Students may also participate in 朱丽亚歌剧 productions as chorus members, 主角或配角的封面艺术家, 偶尔也会扮演主角或配角. All undergraduate students are required to participate in at least one 朱丽亚歌剧 chorus each year. These opera performance opportunities give undergraduate students the chance to extend their musical and dramatic work onto the stage in various capacities, 还能和世界级的导演合作, 导体, 教练, 以及专业水平的歌手.
